A Message from the President

Dear Fellow Alumni,

I am privileged and humbled to write to all of you as the new President of the HBS Club of Houston. Special thanks to outgoing President Marc Sharpe for his tireless leadership over the Club over the past 12 months. Marc has been a selfless volunteer and tremendous servant to our local alumni and we owe him a debt of gratitude. Thank you Marc! As we look forward our new Club Chairman Murray Air has been a fantastic leader already and I look forward to working with him, the Board and my Officers this year.

HBS has had a profound impact on me, personally and professionally. The relationships formed at HBS and in the nine years since my graduation have given me a deep appreciation for the strength of our alumni network and the many ways HBS can positively impact communities globally. I feel very grateful to be associated with my Section, my Class, and all of you. We are all blessed to be associated with this incredible institution, and I believe we bear a lifelong responsibility to represent our institution and each other with dignity and respect.

The Mission of HBS - to educate leaders who make a difference in the world - does not end upon graduation. While the local alumni clubs have many objectives, perhaps the most important one is to provide opportunities for alumni to remain connected to the School and each other.

I have goals within three overlapping themes for the upcoming year -

1. Connectivity
  • To provide multiple opportunities every month to create and deepen relationships within our Greater Houston alumni population. We are committed to offering programming which is diverse by venue, location, interest focus and participant size.
2. Development
  • To provide opportunities for learning, knowledge exchange and intellectual enrichment via the Executive Luncheon Series ("ELS") and other forums
3. Service
  • To participate together in charitable activities in the Greater Houston community via HBS Community Partners and other coordinated volunteer efforts.

Thanks,
Kapil
